Opulent Math Circle & Sling Pilot Academy
Hypernova prepared a presentation to the Opulent Math Circle, a group of homeschooled kids grades 2nd - 9th who come together to pursue advanced studies in mathematics taught by professors from Caltech and UC Berkeley. Because these students already had a strong foundation in higher-level mathematics, we focused on how mathematics is integrated into the robotics field by bringing our competition robot.
We walked the students through:
CAD Design
Machining precision
Mathematical computations used in our code
Risk management and financial planning
We then shifted into a hands-on session using VEX IQ kits. Students were encouraged to build anything they could imagine, and they enthusiastically developed unique mechanisms and fun designs. View the pictures below!
After our workshop, our team went on a tour hosted by Sling Pilot Academy, welcoming us into their hangar to explore their planes and equipment.
Inside the hangar, we:
Walked around the hangar
Stepped into one of their aircrafts
Explore the cockpit and learn flight controls
Drive our robot along the runway
Observed planes descend onto the runway
Altogether, we had a great experience visiting Sling Pilot Academy and interacting with students from the Opulent Math Circle!
